Welcome to Kirarity Travel
Kirarity Travel is a private walking experience in Kyoto, guided by someone who actually lives there. Not a scripted coach tour — a day in the city as your guide knows it.
You do not need to read this handbook from start to finish. Jump to the chapter you need.
Every amount and time limit in this handbook is either an example or the current default. The exact figures for your trip are always shown on your trip page before you pay.
0-1. Who provides your tour
Kirarity provides the tour. Your guide is the local who meets you on the day.
That matters in a few practical ways:
- You pay Kirarity, not your guide. Never hand cash to your guide on the day.
- If something goes wrong, Kirarity is who you talk to — for refunds, changes, and anything else.
- Your guide is a person from Kyoto working with Kirarity, not a company you contract with separately.
0-2. Where tours happen
Kyoto only, for now. Every plan you see is a walking experience in and around the city.
Tours are guided in English unless a plan says otherwise. Each plan lists the languages its guide speaks.
0-3. Who can book
We currently accept travelers from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. If you live elsewhere, we are not able to take your booking yet.
0-4. How a trip works, start to finish
- You send a request. Pick a tour, tell us when you would like to go and how many people are coming (→ 2-1).
- Kirarity arranges a guide. We match you with a local and email you when your trip is ready to pay for (→ 2-2).
- You pay by card. We place a hold on your card. Nothing is charged yet (→ 2-3).
- Free changes. Until the change window closes, you can change or cancel at no cost (→ 3-1).
- Payment is captured. When the change window closes, the payment goes through and your trip is confirmed.
- On the day. Meet your guide and show them the QR code from your trip page (→ 4-1).
- Afterwards. Leave a review, and invite friends to get credit (→ Chapter 5).
